The Foundation’s signature fundraising event will benefit the creation of a new Comprehensive Breast Center for Women at Self Regional Healthcare. This transformational project will bring breast imaging, diagnostics, navigation, education, and support services together in one welcoming, patient-centered location. Designed to enhance the experience for women and their families, the Center will expand access to advanced technology while providing compassionate, coordinated care close to home.
“We are honored to have Chelsea and April leading this year’s Mid-Winter Ball,” said Ken Coffey, Executive Director of the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation. “Both women are passionate community leaders who care deeply about improving the health of our region. Their leadership, enthusiasm, and dedication to our mission make them an outstanding team to lead this year’s event.”
Chelsea Castellone served on the Silent Auction Committee for the 2025 Mid-Winter Ball, co-chaired the 2026 Mid-Winter Ball, and is a member of the Foundation’s Madame Curie Society. Chelsea was recently named System Director of APPs at Self Regional and is a Physician Associate (PA-C) at Self Regional Healthcare’s Family Practice in Ninety Six, where she serves patients alongside her husband, Dr. Reid Castellone.
A lifelong resident of Greenwood, April Timms has dedicated her career to serving others through education, business, faith, and volunteer leadership. She serves as a Supervisor of Student Teachers at Lander University, is Co-Owner of Josh Timms Builders, and is a licensed Realtor® with McClendon Realty. April is also Director of the Gospel Light Baptist Church Homeschool Co-Op, serves alongside her husband, Pastor Josh Timms at Gospel Light Baptist Church, and is an active member of Rotary, the Foundation’s Madame Curie Society, the Special Gifts Committee, and the Mid-Winter Ball Silent Auction Committee.
Planning for the 2027 Mid-Winter Ball is already underway, with sponsorship opportunities and committee recruitment beginning this summer. Additional details—including this year’s theme, ticket information, and sponsorship opportunities—will be announced in the coming months.

Madame Curie Society Spring Social 2026

The Self Regional Healthcare Foundation was proud to host the Madame Curie Society Spring Social on May 14th at the Gatewood Clubhouse for an evening of fellowship, appreciation, and celebration.

The Madame Curie Society recognizes individuals and families who make leadership-level gifts in support of the Foundation’s mission to advance healthcare opportunities throughout the Lakelands region. The annual Spring Social serves as a member-guest recognition event designed to thank supporters while also introducing prospective members to the impact of philanthropy at Self Regional Healthcare.

This year’s event embraced a festive “Preakness” theme inspired by the famed horse racing tradition, creating an elegant and lively atmosphere for guests to enjoy. Attendees were treated to “taste of Maryland” cuisine prepared and served by Marion Stump of Stump’s BBQ, while live music by Kile Antone and Eric Bryant provided entertainment throughout the evening.

The Foundation is deeply grateful for the continued generosity and dedication of Madame Curie Society members, whose support helps strengthen healthcare services and expand access to care throughout our community.

Members are encouraged to stay tuned for details regarding the Foundation’s upcoming Fall Education Event, which promises to be another memorable and meaningful gathering.

Generosity on Display: Two Events Raise Nearly $20,000 for 3D Mobile Mammography Unit

The power of generosity was on full display this week as two special gatherings — Brewed to Give and the 1951 Club Spring Info Social — brought together Self Regional teammates and community members in support of a shared mission.

In just four total hours of gathering, the two events raised just under $20,000 to support the future 3D Mobile Mammography Unit, a transformative initiative that will bring advanced breast screening services directly into communities across the Lakelands.

The week began with Brewed to Give, a donor appreciation and team member engagement event that celebrated current supporters while welcoming new teammates into the Foundation’s mission.

Later in the week, the 1951 Club Spring Social created a warm and welcoming environment for community connection, allowing guests to learn more about the Foundation and how they can be part of meaningful local impact.

Together, the events highlighted the strength of a culture rooted in compassion, generosity, and community-minded leadership.

About the 1951 Club

The 1951 Club is the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation’s annual giving club and offers a practical, financially realistic pathway for teammates and community members to begin their philanthropic journey.

Through ongoing annual support, members help fund important healthcare advancements and community initiatives while making a lasting impact close to home.

A Shared Mission

Funds raised this week will help advance the future 3D Mobile Mammography Unit, increasing access to screening services, encouraging earlier detection, and bringing life-saving care closer to those who need it most.

The Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to every donor, attendee, volunteer, and supporter who helped make these events possible.

When generous hearts gather with purpose, amazing things happen.

Mid-Winter Ball Raises Approximately $117,000 for Mobile Mammography Initiative

The Self Regional Healthcare Foundation’s 38th Annual Mid-Winter Ball: A Mediterranean Soirée brought together nearly 600 guests for an unforgettable evening of celebration, connection, and impact — raising approximately $117,000 to support a new 3D mobile mammography unit.

With this year’s event, the Mid-Winter Ball has now raised a remarkable $385,000 over the past three years toward funding the mobile mammography unit, demonstrating the continued generosity and commitment of the Lakelands community.

Hosted at Lander University, the evening transformed the space into a vibrant Mediterranean setting filled with beautiful décor, incredible food, and a shared sense of purpose. Under the leadership of Ball Chairs Davis Renee Migdalas and Chelsea Castellone, guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated experience that included live music by the PUNCH Band, a Silent Auction that raised over $47,000, and a menu prepared by the Self Regional Healthcare Food & Nutrition team that was widely praised throughout the night.

“It was incredibly special to see our community come together for such an important cause,” shared the Ball Chairs. “The support and energy in the room made the evening truly unforgettable.”

Behind the scenes, the success of the event was made possible by the dedication of volunteers, the generosity of sponsors and local businesses, and the strong partnership with Lander University and its staff, whose support helped ensure a seamless and memorable experience.

“This event is a true reflection of what can be accomplished when a community comes together with a shared purpose,” said Board Chair, Glenda Corley.

Healthy, Wealthy & Wise Brings Women Together for an Evening of Learning and Connection

The Self Regional Healthcare Foundation recently hosted its annual Healthy, Wealthy & Wise: A Seminar for Women, bringing together women from across the community for an evening focused on education, connection, and empowerment.

Held at The Inn on the Square, the event provided attendees with practical insight into important topics that many women face, including advance care planning and caring for aging loved ones.

The evening featured two engaging presentations. Hannah K. Metts, Esquire, partner at McDonald Patrick Poston Hemphill & Roper, LLC, led a discussion on the importance of advanced directives and ensuring one’s wishes are clearly communicated. Abigail Briggs, MSN, RN, Director of Patient Outcomes and Case Management at Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, shared valuable guidance on navigating dementia and supporting loved ones through the challenges of elder care.

In addition to the educational sessions, attendees enjoyed time to connect with one another, fostering a sense of community around topics that are often difficult but deeply important.

“We are so grateful for the opportunity to bring women together for conversations like these,” said Jessica Garcia, Development Officer for the Foundation. “These are topics that impact so many families, and it’s meaningful to create a space where women can learn, ask questions, and feel supported.”

The Self Regional Healthcare Foundation extends its sincere thanks to the speakers, attendees, and partners who helped make this event a success.
